Pretty Girl Teez

I am sooo excited to share this podcast episode with everyone!  One of my goals when starting this podcast was to give young girls who are doing great work in school and there community a voice.  Their are so many podcasts now that are geared and focused solely on adults, but the more I looked at my own group of young girls I realized that people need to know the positive things they are doing.

I discovered Pretty Girl Teez when they started to follow our Instagram page.  After reading their business bio on their page I was interested in learning more about the company and the owner.  During this podcast you will learn more about the owner, Azaria Cherry and how Pretty Girl Teez and her non-profit, Z inc. came about.

Here is her bio for you to read:

Azaria Cherry is a 13 year old, rising freshman at Maury High School in Norfolk, VA. Since the tender age of 6 she has dreamed of attending Spelman and aspires to become a pediatrician. In fact, she is one of 48 students selected within the entire city of Norfolk to participate in the prestigious Maury Medical and Health Specialities program. A medical partnership between her high school and Eastern Virginia Medical School that allows students to take medical courses on top of their required Advanced Diploma workload. Azaria’s love for science, human rights, and entrepreneurship has allowed her to form her own organization for inner city youth girls and her own clothing business selling positive affirmation tee-shirts. In her spare time, she enjoys numerous volunteer community engagements, cheering on her high school JV squad, Forensics, National Jr. Honor Society, FBLA, and Swimming. Although her plate is extremely full she maintains nothing less than a 3.8 GPA. Over the next couple of years she looks forward to tackling more personal goals that she has set for herself.

I hope you are inspired by her story and goals for life.  I will forever be grateful for her, because by discovering her she forced me to research "How to record interviews for podcasting".  I kept making excuses as to why I couldn't record interviews, but because I wanted people to learn about this #Phenomenal young girl I challenged myself to find the solution on how to record an interview.

Please support and follow her on all her social media pages.  She is having a Back to School drive in the Norfolk area.  So if you are in the area reach out to her to see if she needs any assistance.

What is motivating you?

In this week's episode I talk about the importance of finding motivation within yourself.  With many of us, we look to social media to get inspiration for our homes, hair, lifestyles, career choices and much more.  We get inspired and motivated by the things we see, hear and touch.

But what happens when those things are no longer in front of you.  What is your daily motivation to be the best version of you?  What are some things you could say and do for yourself to ensure that you are working on your dreams.

Tune in for the 3 tips I provide on how to motivate yourself!!  Thank you for tuning and ENJOY!!

Are you afraid of the work?

In this week's episode, I talk about the challenges and struggles that we face when desiring to go after our dreams.  Making a dream come true is not an easy task and it takes a lot of commitment, belief and determination to have it come true.

During the episode, I provide you with two steps that I believe will help transform your mindset.  We are only 5 weeks away from 2018 and it's my goal to help shift your mindset as we roll into the new year.  I can honestly say that I am afraid of all the work that is head of me, but I am more afraid if I let another year go by with and still having the same excuses and reasons as to why I have not elevated.

Who Can You Trust??

Do you "trust" all the people who are around you?  Have they ever showed a side of them that you never imagined seeing?  With so much jealousy, envy and insecurities throughout the world.  You have to chose the people that you call your "friend" very carefully.

In episode, I will be discussing two incidents that occurred over the summer.  Each incident began with the young girls trusting the people who they called their friends.  One young girl will be scared for life and other's life was taken from this world.  I pray that you find the suggestions mentioned during this episode helpful when determining the type of people you call your "friend".

Speak Up!

Have you ever remained quiet when you someone asked your opinion on a certain topic?  Do you not raise your hand in class, because you were afraid to speak the wrong answer?  Well, in this episode I talk about my experience in listening to the interview of former First Lady Michelle Obama and Shonda Rhimes during the Pennsylvania Women's Conference.  During the interview Mrs. Obama spoke about using your voice to speak up.  As young girls and women we have earned and are capable of speaking up for ourselves and the issues that place at home and within our careers.

I was truly moved by her words.  I was so disappointed that I dragged my feet when it came time to purchase my ticket (I won't do that again).   Being present at the conference would have been more than just sitting at the round table with a few of my friends.  That was my opportunity to network and connect with other young positive and empowering women.

I hope you enjoy this episode.  Unfortunately, I was unable to find a link of the interview on YouTube, but once I do.  I will update the show notes with the link.
